Operating Room (OR) – RN / Surgical Technologist / Anesthesia Technologist

Facility Overview

• 228-bed hospital
• Level IV Trauma Center | Level III NICU
• Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Teaching facility with a collaborative OR team

Unit Details

• 14 Operating Rooms
• Average 20–23 cases/day
• Patient ratio 1:1
• Staff work across all surgical specialties

Case Mix

• Orthopedics (35%) – total joints, sports medicine, ACDF, laminectomy, microdiscectomy
• General Surgery – cholecystectomy, appendectomy
• GYN – hysterectomy, D&C, hysteroscopy, ruptured ectopic
• Bariatrics – robotic & laparoscopic
• Plastics – breast reconstruction & biopsy
• Urology – TURP, cystoscopy, aquablation
• Robotics: DaVinci XI (required) , Stryker Mako (joint replacement)
• No neuro, complex spine, or OB cases

Experience Requirements

• RN: 2+ years OR experience (first-time travelers accepted with 3+ years)
• Surgical Tech / Anesthesia Tech: 2–3 years OR experience

Certifications

• RN: BLS required | ACLS, CNOR preferred
• Surgical Tech: BLS required | CST preferred
• Anesthesia Tech: BLS required | ASATT preferred

Required Skills

• RN: Circulating, DaVinci XI, Ortho, GYN, General (scrub & PACU backup preferred)
• Surgical Tech: Scrub experience in Ortho, GYN, General
• Anesthesia Tech: Difficult IV access; L&D, IR, GI experience

Schedule & On-Call

• Monday–Friday | 0630–1500
• No flex before 0600
• On-call based on unit needs
• Weekend rotation required (techs on-call)

Floating (RN Only)

• Tasker/sitter only if low census
• No patient assignments
• Optional float locations: South Shore, Grafton, West Allis

Orientation

• 3–5 days (8 hrs/day) with unit preceptor
• Day 1 includes onboarding with Nurse Manager & Educator

Systems & Equipment

• EPIC (required)
• Alaris, Pyxis, iStat/Hemochron
• GE C-Arm (setup only)

Additional Information

• 1 holiday required
• RTO up to 7 days (additional days require approval)
