Key responsibilities
· Test setup and execution
o Build and configure test setups for heating, sensing, and control assemblies, including heaters, temperature and flow sensors, valves, and electrical harnesses.
o Install and connect components according to mechanical and electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
o Execute engineering test plans (thermal, electrical, functional, leak, and endurance tests), including first-article and characterization testing for new and modified designs.
o Operate standard test and measurement equipment (digital multimeters, power supplies, flow and pressure instruments, hipot testers, data-acquisition systems, etc.) and accurately record results.
· Build and prototype support
o Perform basic rework (mechanical adjustments, wiring and connector work, strain-relief, labeling) to bring assemblies into conformance with drawings and test findings.
· Data, documentation, and feedback
o Capture test data, photos, and observations in standardized formats and communicate results to engineering in a clear, timely manner.
o Support test report and FAI package creation by organizing raw data, build history, and configuration details for each unit tested.
o Provide structured feedback on assembly issues, test failures, and design-for-build/test improvements to engineering and NPI teams.
· Equipment, lab, and safety
o Maintain a clean, organized test area that supports repeatable, high-quality testing of complex electro-mechanical systems.
o Perform basic preventive maintenance and calibration checks on test equipment and fixtures; escalate when formal service is required.
o Work in accordance with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements, including PPE, ESD controls, electrical safety, and any applicable regulatory or export-control rules.
· Cross-site and field support
o Collaborate regularly with engineers and technicians at other company locations to align on test priorities, build status, and upcoming milestones.
o Support occasional on-site testing or installation support at company or customer locations as needed for critical builds, FAIs, or troubleshooting.
Required qualifications
· 5+ years experience as an engineering, manufacturing, or field service technician working with complex electromechanical systems, process equipment, or gas/fluid delivery systems.
· Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics, and to execute builds and tests directly from this documentation.
· Hands-on experience assembling, wiring, and testing:
o Multi-component thermal and control assemblies, and/or
o Gas/fluid delivery panels, manifolds, or similar engineered systems.
· Proficiency with common electrical and mechanical measurement tools (digital multimeters, hipot testers, flow/pressure gauges, micrometers/calipers, torque tools, etc.) and safe test practices.
· Demonstrated ability to execute detailed test procedures, follow build travelers, and document results accurately with minimal supervision.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced NPI/prototype environment with changing priorities and aggressive schedules.
· Associate degree in an engineering technology field (Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or similar), technical military training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
