Contract: Contract hire 6-month, full-time

Description:

The Veterinary Technician supports preclinical research operations by providing high-quality animal care, technical procedures, and clinical support under the guidance of veterinarians. This role is hands-on and involves caring for a wide variety of research animals, performing diagnostics, administering medications, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring compliance with GLP standards. Veterinary Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the health and welfare of animals while contributing to the success of early-phase drug development studies.

  • Assist with animal handling, restraint, sedation, anesthesia, and post-operative care.
  • Administer medications via IM, SQ, topical, and PO routes.
  • Support surgical procedures including preparation, bandaging, wound care, and monitoring anesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with GLP standards.
  • Perform cleaning, prep, and routine maintenance of veterinary instruments and equipment.
  • Share responsibility for departmental inventory, supply management, and routine quality checks.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, scientists, and cross-functional staff regarding animal health and welfare.
  • Participate in ongoing training, ensure PPE compliance, and follow all safety protocols.

Schedule

Training Period (first ~2–3 months):

  • 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
  • Start time: 7:00 or 7:30 am (a little flexibility — can start as late as 8:00–8:15 am if needed)

After Training:

  • Shift switches to 4x10s (4 days per week, 10-hour shifts)
  • Options: Thursday–Sunday or Monday–Thursday
